Where is a good place to practice bushcraft in the bay area?

I’m looking to start practicing primitive bushcraft skills in my area. I live in San Ramon and I’m trying to find a good place to begin. Please consider that I’ll be using small fires for my projects so it needs to be a place that would be ok to have a fire at. Thanks everyone!

  1. Most of the local parks and state forests near you regulate access and where you can build fires, any picnic area or campground with a BBQ or fire ring can be used to practice your skills and the closest to you, that I know has camping, is Mt. Diablo state park. Google map parks around you and then call and ask if they have campgrounds for a start.

The national forests near you, the Los padres, Stanislaus, and Mendocino all allow dispersed camping and have campgrounds where you can play to your hearts content.
