Emergency Blanket: An Essential Item For Survival Kits
If you are going on a camping trip, make sure that your survival kit has an emergency blanket included. In case of unexpected downpours and windstorms, using them is sure to keep you toasty warm throughout the night.
Shopping Tips for Emergency Blankets
With so many bogus products crowding the market today, authentic emergency blankets, which may also be referred to as space blankets, are harder to find. Use the tips below to make sure that your purchase is 100% capable of keeping you safe and warm in whatever weather condition you find yourself in.
The Right Materials
Basic emergency blankets are made of aluminized non-stretch polyester. Anything else will not be able to effectively or sufficiently reflect your body heat and provide you with the extra warmth you need.
Heavy-duty emergency blankets, on the other hand, are made of a more durable kind of polyethylene. If you’re expecting to meet extreme weather conditions on your camping trip, you’ll be glad to know that this kind of emergency blanket is capable of reflecting 90% of your body heat.
Lastly, authentic emergency blankets are weatherproof. Be sure to test it out for yourself. Emergency blankets must not only be capable of keeping water out but it must also protect your body from strong gusts of wind.
Compact and Lightweight
Because emergency blankets are designed for outdoor use, its manufacturers have ensured that lightweight materials are used for making them to facilitate traveling. If the emergency blanket you are interested in buying is bulky and heavy then it’s probably a fake and won’t give you any semblance of safety or warmth when you finally make use of it on your camping trip.
Flexible
Be sure to test the flexibility of the emergency blanket. You want something that will effectively mold to your shape even in sub-zero conditions.
Size
If you are of exceptional height or girth, be sure to check the dimensions of the emergency blanket. Don’t settle for anything incapable of keeping you fully covered as this could compromise your health and safety.
Appearance
Look for something that’s easy distinguishable even in low light conditions. In cases where you’ll have to pack quickly and move to another camping site, you won’t have a hard time looking for your emergency blanket.
It’s Not for Sharing
Last but not the least, not all emergency blankets are designed for sharing and at the most, they are only capable of keeping two persons under wraps. Anything more would render the emergency blanket less effective than it should be.
If you’d like to complete your survival kit, an emergency blanket is a necessary addition. Get only the best emergency blanket with the help of Survival Gear.

Emergency Survival Kits Save Lives
Emergency survival kits are an excellent tool for protecting your family during an emergency. Having one on hand, gives a feeling of security or peace of mind. Many people keep more than one on hand. For example, keep one in your home and one in your car. In fact, keeping one in your car should be mandatory especially if you live in a remote area or a rugged area susceptible to severe weather.
Emergency survival kits can come in a range of sizes. Some can be small enough to fit in your pocket. An example of a small kit would consist of a multi-tool, small flashlight, lighter, compass and whistle. This type of kit can be carried in a jacket pocket at all times.
Larger style emergency survival kits can be carried in a backpack or shoulder bag. Examples of the contents include food, water, batteries, cell phone, first aid kit, warm clothes, flashlight and lighter or waterproof matches.
The emergency survival kits kept in a boat or car should be more extensive than something you carry on your person. These large kits could include things such as weapons, tools, large first aid kit, food, water and even a radio.
Emergency survival kits kept in the home would obviously be much larger than any other kit you have. I hope that you will never need to use one. There are several different types of emergencies that could presumably happen. One example would be an emergency that happened to you only, another would be a citywide situation that affects many people. Either way, having a plan is important.
The basic rule of thumb is that your emergency survival kits in your home should last you and your family at least three days. If you need to be evacuated then you should have a kit that you can immediately take with you.
Even if you are hiking in the woods and you have an emergency survival kit in your backpack, you should still carry a smaller one on your person in case you become separated from your backpack.
Emergency survival kits, if made properly can save lives. Do you have yours prepared yet?

Everyone Should Prepare Outdoor Emergency Kits
Customize the emergency kits along your specific wants. Pack the survival items, which do not fit in the survival tin in bag or pouch that is grabbed easily and quickly and have items that can allow you to live overnight in the wilderness and enhance the chances of being found. I personally use lightweight, durable as well as a waterproof pack with the waist belt and it is large sufficient to carry a first-aid kit. In addition, I keep that always outside my backpack thus I can easily grab it.
Your emergency kits must have a survival bag, cooking pot, food, fuel, and signaling kit and plus some good advice is to include survival notes, create your own or else use one of recommended outdoor survival books.
Cooking pot
Use an aluminum tin, which is light, strong also suitable as the container for other survival stuff.
Fuel
Use a pocket stove with fuel tablets, as pocket stove is compact, ultra light, and accessible. The stove just unfolds to form the adjustable pot stand and holder for burning the fuel. Moreover, these tablets are a great heat resource for cooking, get warm or start fires. Put in some extra waterproof matches too.
Food
Food bars are preferably suited for the emergency kits due to their huge storage temperature variety and small size and weigh. You require all the extra calories that you may get in the survival situation thus pick high-energy food bars.
Survival Bag
Make use of the emergency bag of the reflective material that will keep you warm.
Signaling Kit
Pack the small flashlight, which will take up little room. Make use of long lasting batteries that are reversed inside thus they will not run down if by chance switched on.
The small hand held aerial indication flares is an ideal wilderness signaling device and they provide most of the effective day and night signal to attract the attention since they are very loud as well as cover a large sighting area and these are explosive as a result, pack very carefully. Read all the instructions that are supplied with flares.
Keep with you every time
In addition, keep in mind whatever is in the emergency kits you need to keep that with you at all times. Never venture in the wilderness without the kits.

Civil War Emergency Preparation – Mastering Survival Techniques!
Peace is fast becoming a scarce commodity in all parts of the world. If the threat of war is not from over the boarders it is from within – civil war is what every country fears more than international aggression. The risk of having to face a civil war is an omnipresent risk and people need to need to be educated vis-à-vis what they need to do in times of civil unrest.
There are many countries such as Africa that are no longer affected by a civil war, in fact living in aggression has become a part of their lives, never the less they are well versed with ways of defending themselves and finding food and nutrition for their families. In Africa alone civil war has displaced as many as 5 million families many of them are living in evacuation camps set up by the army and social service organizations like the Red Cross.
Civil war is no different than a conventional war fought between two countries; the only difference is that the army is fighting people within the country. Nevertheless civil war can be a very devastating experience especially for women and children who in most cases are not equipped to fend for themselves. Apart from food, shelter and clothing problems civil war brings with it atrocities in the form of human rights violations – from military as well as civilian forces.
Every family living in a country that is threatened by civil war needs to put in place a contingency plan in case there is any unrest. These people should never live in the hope that their government will provide for them in times of unrest. Government, at most times, will heap atrocities on the people in times of civil war – remember that the government is fighting civilians in their own country. So, civilians are the enemy!
Preparations for civil war should include survival courses where they are trained in the art of self defense as well as the use of fire arms and other weapon training. While training in the use of fire arms adolescents must also be made aware of the dangers of handling a dangerous weapon, not just the adults.
Knowledge of first aid is very important in times of war and so every civilian must be well versed with the use of various first aid techniques. First aid kits must be prepared and kept ready to deal with open wounds as well as diseases such as diarrhea, malaria and other general contagious infectious diseases.
Families facing the threat of civil war need to prepare to be displaced in the hope of escaping violence. These people must prepare a displacement kit that would necessarily include all necessities such as covering, clothes and shoes. These times will mean living on the road for months without shelter. Your displacement kit will be of great help in these times. Include only the bare necessities in the kit to keep it light.
It is necessary to prepare for an emergency rather than hope it will not happen. So, if you are prepared you will have taken care of a few of your worries at least, and you will have improved your chances of surviving.
