NZSAS First Among Equals – Part 8

NZSAS: First Among Equals is a world first – an exclusive documentary series about the inner workings of this country’s most famous elite, the “top 1 percenters” of the new zealand defence force – better known as the NZSAS. Based on 3 years of unprecedented access, this New Zealand series includes never before seen footage of the successful few who’ve earned a place in New Zealand’s leading military unit. It observes them under pressure as they struggle to learn a multitude of expert skills including parachuting, marksmanship, demolitions, infiltration, survival techniques and communications – all to the SAS benchmark.

SWAT?! SWAT is basically just a bunch of cops with big guns thinking they’re special ops commandos when they’re just raiding a slaghouse full of dopeheads.

The most advanced training SWAT trainees get is advanced CQC. Your regular US Army infantryman has 10x the training of a SWAT cop. Fact.

It was the 7th Armored Division wearing the Jerboa shoulder flash depicting a Rat. The 7th was part of the Eightth Army. I was only joking about “Rat Patrol” – I think they only fought in Los Angeles. 🙂

I think the British Eighth army were the folks who were known as the Desert Rats

RPGs is adaptive to middle eastern third rate military levels, which is good for acquiring and facilitating enemy weapons. ie Soviet made AK 47 7.62 AR SAMs and other ordinances and weapons systems, that is not US state of the art small weapons ie M4, M60 SW, SAW. The NZSAS sterling SMG 9mm parabellum, which is the primary weapon of the NZSAS and the Aust SAS is not demonstrated here, the HK MP5 replaced these specific NZSAS weapons of choice for its telltale reasons if acquired by the enemy.

  19. What the fark does a special police unit have to do with a military SF unit? They are different tools for different jobs. When was the last time an LA SWAT unit spent 2-3 weeks on a afgan mounain side OPing taliban?

  20. Anyone who compares SWAT to SAS is a fucking stupid fuck! Oh wait, anyone? I mean any AMERICAN, since only they have people stupid enough to compare the 2 in the first place. < TRUTH!

  21. Anyone who compares SWAT to fucking SAS is a stupid fuck. Oh wait, anyone? Any AMERICAN, since they’re the only ones fucking stupid enough to compare the 2 in the first place. < TRUTH!

“LA SWAT has something the NZSAS doesn’t – tradition. ”

LOL Thats the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard!!

SWAT was created in the 1970s to shoot up some gangsters and drug dealers…

NZSAS was forged in the desert battlefronts of World War Two against the tyranny of the Nazis and Fascist italians!

Honestly.. the two dont compare. They both may have tradition, but SAS is far superior.

If you gonna bring in SWAT shares US rangers tradition from 18th century, that’s same as SAS mate. Founder of SAS is Colonel Sir Archibald David Stirling. He was member of the Scots Guards, which is a regiment of the Guards Division of the British Army active since 1642. Way before US independence. From your comment, you don’t know much about international laws do you? Have a read about ‘state sovereignty’ and ‘Self-determination’, US is not World Police you know?

  24. swanningaround | June 17, 2010 at 6:07 am |

The tradition of SWAT goes back to the US rangers in the 18th Century. The great tradition has been carried on through th great expolits of the American GIs in army and marines. Most of all, the boys honed their skills in Nam, liberating the Free World. The great work carries on in the battles in Iraq and Afghanistan where American heroes are making the world safe for innocent mothers anmd babies. God bless these United States of America and every American citizen. God bless Bush and Obama.
