  1. Since your not being specific and you just want general tips check out Survivorman and Man V Wild. Both excellent shows on survival.

Those shows are garbage designed purely for entertainment. If you are caught in s survival situation you will not have the resources they have available.

Please do yourself a favor and peruse the websites I have listed above. Take the knowledge they provide and go practice it at your local wilderness. Dont get survival knowledge from a few geeks on tv.

Carry a Bic lighter with you at all times, even if you get it wet you can dry it out quickly buy running it down the length of your thigh wheel side down, until it starts to spark the flint, works best when you are wearing denim, don’t worry you will not catch your self on fire, learn what plants and insects are edible and which ones are poisonous, look under logs and rocks for worms for fish bait or to eat,use your boot lace to make a snare to catch rabbits and other small mammals, could go on all day long,

Always tell someone where you’ll be going and when you’ll be back. If you are lost, stay where you are and wait for help. Carry the “ten essentials” with you whenever you’re in the woods. Extra clothing (insulating layer & rain gear), sunglasses, first-aid kit, extra food, flashlight, map, compass, matches, fire starters, and a knife. I would also add a whistle.

As for the two survival shows, I think they focus too much on collecting food and making their way to civilization when what you should do it stay put, signal for help, find water, build a fire, and a shelter.

well my favorite tv shows man vs wild and survivor man on discovery channel show you great ways to stay alive so you can go to the discovery website and pick a episode of the area you would like have tips for.

  7. You can get along well if you have water and a way to stay warm.

WATER: Small water filter. Iodine tables. Small bottle of chlorine. Way to boil the water. Those four things should make any water you find safe to drink.

HEAT: Water proof matches, magnesium blank with flint, small butane lighter. With those, you should be able to make a fire.

As far as getting out, a good map of the area and compass are reliable. GPS is not. Batteries go dead.
