    the way i do is: if im in new terrain i check my map and compass every time i come to a significant point/object in the terrain, and !ALLWAYS! keep one eye on your compass, one eye on your map and one eye on at the terrain (and yes, every outdoor person should have that third eye :-) )

    you’re saying check with the compass on the map where you are… how do I use a compass to check where i am on the map?? You do not explain it…
